The
Marriage Matters (M2) ministry exists to prepare, equip, and engage couples and individuals within First Baptist Church Covington, and the local community at-large, in a life-long commitment to marriage as an earthly covenant between one man and one woman that represents the spiritual covenant between the Lord Jesus Christ, and His bride, the church.
The M2 strategy is four-fold…
- Engage married couples and individuals within First Baptist Church Covington in proactive efforts to develop a deeper understanding and application of God’s principles of “covenant marriage”.
- Develop a recurring offering of events and activities in a deliberate effort to strengthen the covenantal bond between married couples and their families.
- Involve individuals who are single (i.e. never married) or single-again (i.e. divorced, widowed), and are either with or without children, in events and activities geared specifically toward preparing them for future covenant marriage and “blended” family relationships.
- Establish measurement routines to ensure the ongoing sustainability and success of the ministry both fiscally and spiritually.
…and is carried out through the following:
- “Date2Nite”: An ongoing series of on-site “date night” events designed for married couples and singles that are either dating or engaged. Events are: at no-cost to attendees, always held on Friday evenings, offer no-cost childcare, and are always held at the Annex building location.
- “Retreat2Marriage”: An on-site marriage retreat featuring a guest speaker on the subject of biblical marriage. Retreats are geared toward married couples, as well as individuals desiring to be married, and are held at the Annex building at minimal or no-cost to attendees.
- Marriage Mentoring: A structured, biblical approach which pairs younger married couples on an ongoing basis with married couples who are in more mature, seasoned marriage relationships.
- Discipleship Classes: A recurring offering of marriage and family themed classes within the existing church schedule.
