We at First Baptist Covington believe in the power of prayer. That is why we have an active Prayer Ministry. You may join us in fulfilling God’s best for FBC. The following are just a few of the currently active prayer ministry areas. See if one is right for you or you may feel called to start your own area of prayer in this ministry.
Prayer Boxes – A member of the Prayer Ministry collects requests from the Prayer Boxes (one in the entrance foyer, one in the Callaway room, one beside the door to the staff offices, and one in the children’s building foyer) and any placed in the offering plates, then places them in the Prayer Room behind the sanctuary so other members of the FBC family can pray for them throughout the week. Notes are written to those making requests when deemed appropriate.
Prayer Room – Members meet in the Prayer Room behind the sanctuary on
Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. to pray over the Wednesday night prayer list and the prayer service to follow. These people meet weekly as a Prayer Band to pray for FBC.
Prayer Bands – Members of the Prayer Ministry have formed prayer bands (“where two or more are gathered”) in homes or other locations for weekly prayer. You may inquire concerning already established prayer bands or start one of your own.
Praying at Home – A schedule has been organized of church members who have committed to pray for FBC for one hour each week. Perhaps there will be a 24/7 prayer covering for FBC in 2011!
Sunday School Classes – Each Sunday School class has been given specific dates and worship times to be in the Prayer Room praying for the worship service. There are prayer prompters available, including suggestions for prayer topics during the worship service, specific personal prayer requests, and the prayer list from the previous Wednesday night prayer service.
FBC Prayer Link – This web link is managed through the church office with the help of members of the Prayer Ministry.
FBC Informer – A Prayer Guide is produced each month for publication in The Informer. It provides direction for corporate prayer at FBC.
Prayer Walking – There are prayer walkers at work during Sunday morning worship services and other specific Prayer Walks are occasionally organized for FBC and the community.
Prayer for Global Missions – Most of this faithful arm of the Prayer Ministry is organized through the Missions Ministries of FBC, such as WMU, RA’s and GA’s.
Prayer for Affinity Groups – Members of the church family have expressed particular burdens to pray for specific people groups such as children, youth, women, men, singles, marriages, families, seniors, church staff, the unsaved, the military, and specific ministries of FBC. If you sense such a burden, please share it with us.
Prayer for Our Pastor – A new opportunity is being organized for families to commit to specific prayer for our pastor and his family at a specific time each week, using a prepared prayer guide.
