Pastor Jason Dees 
     
Jason began his ministry at First Baptist in March of 2008 and is so excited to be a part of this wonderful church family. He is originally from Huntsville, Alabama where he spent his childhood running across ball fields, through schoolyards, and up and down the halls of the local church. 

As the son of a preacher the church has always been a big part of Jason’s life. He has known and loved the Lord from a very young age. Jason earned a degree in Communication with a minor in History from Auburn University. During his days at Auburn he was very involved with Student Government and his fraternity Phi Gamma Delta. His college summers were spent as a River Guide for the JH Ranch (a high adventure Christian Camp) in Northern California. He was also member of First Baptist Church in Opelika. It was through his ministry at his church, his fraternity, and the Ranch that the Lord called him into ministry.

After college Jason moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and pastored New Washington Christian Church in southern Indiana. After graduating from Southern with a Master’s in Divinity in the Spring of 2007 Jason moved back to Huntsville and took a job as the Executive pastor at Crosspointe Church where his father was senior pastor. Jason enjoyed his time in Huntsville, as it had been a long-standing desire of his to work in ministry with his father. However, in March of 2008 when Jason received the call to come to First Baptist in Covington he knew this was the place the Lord had him to be.

Since his coming to First Baptist a lot has changed in our Church and in Jason’s life.  A few months after moving to Georgia he met the love of his life, the former Paige Raynor, and the two were married in May of 2009.  Paige is very involved in several ministries at FBC and graduated from Southern Seminary with a masters in Biblical Counseling in December 2011.  Jason and Paige were blessed with their first child, a daughter named Emery Anna Dees, on January 26, 2012.  In January 2010, Jason began work on a PhD in Biblical Spirituality also through Southern.  Outside the local Church Jason has a passion for traveling, the outdoors, and his beloved Auburn Tigers.
