Job Description

Position Type: Regular Part-time, Hourly
Hours: 25-30 hours per week
Reports To: Executive Pastor
Works With: Pastoral and Administrative staff

Key Objective:

The Ministry Coordinator (MC) will provide administrative and ministerial support to the Church and Pastoral Staff, with the purpose of coordinating and executing various aspects of ministry.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Working with the Pastoral Staff, Elders, and other lay leadership, the MC will provide ongoing ministerial support in the following areas:

  • Ministry Coordination

    • Help coordinate ministry programming with the Pastoral Staff, Elders, Deacons, and Ministry Leaders in the following areas:

      • Kids ministry

      • Student Ministry

      • Women’s ministry

      • Men’s ministry

      • Senior adult ministry

      • Worship and music ministry

      • Local outreach

      • Missions

    • Coordinate special events throughout the year related to the ministries and outreach of the Church.

    • Work to ensure the Church clearly communicates about Church ministries.

  • Guest Connection

    • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust system for connecting guests to the ministries of our Church.

    • Develop, implement, and maintain a welcoming and hospitable environment for Church guests at all the regular meetings of the church including organizational oversight of a welcome team, guest lunches, membership interest classes, etc.

  • Membership Administration

    • Ensure the new membership process is seamless and in coordination with the oversight of the Elders.

    • Develop and maintain a membership assimilation process for new members that connects them with service and ministry in the Church.

    • Give consistent oversight and maintenance to the Church’s membership database (Planning Center) ensuring information is accurate and relevant to every area of ministry.

  • All other duties as assigned: The MC may be given a variety of tasks that relate to carrying out the day-to-day ministries of the Church.

Qualifications:

The MC should be a faithful Christian and member of First Baptist Covington that displays a clear aspiration to serve in ministry. This person should display Christian characteristics like the qualifications of a deacon found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13, as well as demonstrate the ability to minister the Word of God to others in appropriate contexts as qualified by Scripture. In addition to these spiritual qualifications, the MC must display the following characteristics:

  • Dedicated self-starter and hard-working in all areas of work and interaction with other employees.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak publicly in a variety of settings.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload based on deadlines.

  • Shows initiative and ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Proficient in Planning Center’s suite of church management apps.

  • Proficient in Google Workspace, MS Office, and Canva.
